LiveWell Warriors – Peer Health Educators

Live Well Warriors LogoLiveWell Warriors are Peer Health Educators at Fairleigh Dickinson University. LiveWell Warriors are volunteer student leaders dedicated to making a difference on campus related to student well-being. These student leaders identify FDU student needs, lead thoughtful conversations about well-being, assemble engaging and educational programs, increase awareness of support services, and promote healthy lifestyle choices.

Recruitment and Selection

  • Students are recruited in early February and selected in early March prior to spring break.
  • Applications are available starting Monday, January 22, 2024
  • Deadline to apply is Sunday, February 11 at 11:59pm EST, 2024
  • Interviews for the LiveWell Warriors will be Monday, February 19 through Friday, March 1, 2024
  • Selection is the week of March 4, 2024

Training

Training will occur throughout March and April to prepare students for engagement in the fall and spring semesters of the following academic year. Peer Health Educators will receive continuous training in the fall and spring semesters throughout their time on staff.

University 1001 Presentations

LiveWell Warriors will be present for fall orientation and present several topics in the University 1001 course for incoming first-year students. Many of the presentations will cover overall well-being, alcohol and other drugs, sexual violence and consent, and positive healthy behaviors.

Partnerships

The LiveWell Warriors build partnerships with student organizations, campus departments, and community organizations to design and implement student-focused health and well-being initiatives. Our peer health educators will be a part of our LiveWell Collaborative, which brings various members of our FDU community together to plan and implement engaging opportunities to cultivate sustainable skills in overall health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exhibit openness to diversity of thoughts and experiences.
  • Assist and contribute to a positive peer-to-peer environment.
  • Model appropriate behavior for fellow peers.
  • Promote and participate in outreach events sponsored by the LiveWell Collaborative.
  • Develop educational presentations, programs, and resources on wellness topics.
  • Facilitate small and large group discussions.
  • Participate in all training retreats and workshops.
  • Attend weekly LiveWell Warriors Team meetings.
  • Proudly represent FDU , TCC and LiveWell.
  • Practice discretion as defined by the program.
  • Most importantly, have fun and benefit from this experience!

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing.
  • Applicants must attend an interview for selection.

Unleash Your Unique Instructors

Embrace Your Expertise! Share your daily joys, guilty pleasures, healthy obsessions, and passions.  Undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to be instructors.  Instructors select the day, time and location within the four-weeks outlined per semester.  Any supplies needed for an Unleash Your Unique session will be provided by TCC.  Each session lasts 1-2 hours based on the instructor’s choice.  The time commitment will be 4-8 hours over the course of the four-weeks, not including any prep time.             

Everyone has hobbies, interests, and passions that should be shared with others.  Your skills are exactly what we are looking for! Acting, Baking, Cooking, Drawing, Soap Making, Animation, Martial Arts, Investing, Languages, Legos, Couch to 5K, Painting, Photography, Podcasts, Running, Sculpting, Cars, Pickleball, Board Games; need we say more?   If it’s not listed and you’ve got it, let us know.
