Research with Animals (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee- IACUC)

Fairleigh Dickinson University is committed to ensuring the humane and ethical care and use of vertebrate animals in research and teaching. The University complies with applicable federal, state, sponsor, and institutional requirements governing animal care and use.  Research or instructional activities involving live vertebrate animals conducted under the auspices of Fairleigh Dickinson University require review and approval by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) before the activity begins.

The Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects administers the University’s IACUC program and provides guidance to investigators throughout the review and approval process.

When is IACUC Review Required?

IACUC approval is required before initiating research or teaching activities involving live vertebrate animals under the auspices of Fairleigh Dickinson University.  If you are unsure whether your project requires IACUC review, please contact the Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects before beginning your research.
