Next Steps for Admitted Students

Once you’ve been admitted to FDU, there are a few steps to complete in the enrollment process before you start your first semester.  We’ve outlined your step-by-step enrollment process, including contact information and deadlines for each step, below.

Our Admissions Team is available to assist you at any point throughout the enrollment process.  We’re here to help you on your journey into higher education and can’t wait to welcome you to campus next Fall!

You’re Admitted!  

☐  Make it official and submit your deposit — Submit your $200 tuition deposit, plus an additional $200 housing deposit if you plan to live on campus.  Secure your spot in the program you have been admitted to by committing by January 6 (Spring 2027 admission) or May 1, 2027 (Fall 2027 admission) at fdu.edu/deposit.  Deposits after deadlines will be accepted if space remains available. (Deposits are nonrefundable.)

☐  Send us your FAFSA — Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov.  Enter FDU’s FAFSA Code 002607 to send us your FAFSA application.

If you did not submit your Social Security Number (SSN) on your admissions application, it is required to process your financial aid and may be securely submitted at fdu.edu/sendssn.  Security of your personal information is imperative; please use only this secure form to provide your SSN to FDU.

☐  Register for admitted student events — Celebrate your acceptance and learn more about living and learning at FDU by attending Admitted Students Day and other events designed just for you.  RSVP today at fdu.edu/mymetroevents.

☐  Follow the Class of 2031 on Instagram — Follow @fdu_classof2031.  DM your picture, a caption about yourself, and your student ID for an introduction post.

Once You’ve Submitted Your Deposit

☐  Activate your FDU NetID — Visit fdu.edu/netid, select “Activate My Account,” and follow the prompts. Have your FDU student ID number handy (top left of your acceptance letter).  Write down your new email address and password.  Activation is available 24 hours after your deposit posts to FDU’s system.

☐  Install the Duo app — After activating your NetID, install Duo on your phone and laptop at fdu.edu/duo.  For help: SAMI Service Desk, samisupport@fdu.edu or (973) 443-8822.

☐  Set up your FDU student email — After installing Duo, visit fdu.edu/outlook for instructions to set up Microsoft Outlook on your phone.  Check your FDU email weekly before your first semester.

☐  Sign your Student Registration Contract — After activating your NetID, sign the contract at fdu.edu/contract.  Completing the contract and placement assessments allows the University to create your first-semester course schedule. 

After Signing Your Student Contract

☐  Register for New Student Orientation — Registration begins December 2026 for Summer 2027 orientation.  Use your NetID at fdu.edu/metroorientation.  Questions: (973) 443-8570 or metroorientation@fdu.edu.

☐  Complete your housing and meal plan application — Available beginning February 2027 at fdu.edu/myhousing.  Use your FDU email (NetID).  Questions: fdu.edu/housing, (973) 443-8586, or fduhousing@fdu.edu.

☐  Complete your placement testing — Complete writing, reading, and math assessments by the designated due dates. Information and scheduling instructions will be sent to your FDU email. Assessments begin April 2027.  Visit fdu.edu/metrotesting or contact metrotesting@fdu.edu / (973) 443-8538.

☐  Submit your health forms — Submit proof of immunizations to Student Wellness Services before registering for classes or checking into residence halls.  Forms and instructions: fdu.edu/wellness. Questions: (973) 443-8535.

Prepare for Your First Semester

☐  Send final transcripts and college credits — Ask your high school counselor to send an official final transcript showing your graduation date.  If you earned a GED, submit an official copy.  Request official AP scores, IB scores, and any college transcripts be sent directly to Admissions.  Questions: myapp@fdu.edu.

☐  Review Disability Support Services — Committed students may request accommodations using the New Student Request Form at fdu.edu/disability with their FDU email (NetID).  Documentation may be faxed to (973) 443-8080 or mailed to Office of Disability Support Services, 285 Madison Avenue, M-M01-01, Madison, NJ 07940.  Questions: MetroDSS@fdu.edu or (973) 443-8079.

☐  Complete your final checklist — In August or the first week of classes, visit fdu.edu/metrochecklist and:

  • Apply for your FDU ID card
  • Register your vehicle and get a parking decal
  • Sign up for FDU Alert
  • Complete the FERPA Release Form
  • Create a Handshake account.
