Orlando A. Serani, VP Global Business Services, J&J Supply Chain – Customer and Logistics Services

Orlando is currently Vice President, Global Business Services, in the Customer and Logistics Services (CLS) organization. CLS was formed as part of the J&J Supply Chain enterprise organization in early 2010. He is accountable for the critical enabling services that support the Enterprise Supply Chain, including supply chain master data management and industry standards, global brand protection, supply chain visibility, as well as CLS strategy and portfolio management.

Previously, Orlando’s most recent role was Vice President, Information Technology (IT), Program Planning and Operations in the Office of the CIO, where he had responsibility for all aspects of the Global IT Enterprise Portfolio Management processes, Global IT Communications, as well as IT Strategy development and execution.

Orlando began his career with the Johnson & Johnson Consumer business in Italy in 1988. After a Foreign Service National assignment with the United States Information Agency in Rome, Italy from 1990 until 1992, he rejoined Johnson & Johnson’s Ortho-Clinical Diagnostic Systems, Inc., where he held diverse positions in R&D, Sales and Marketing, and IT. He joined the Johnson & Johnson Consumer IT group in 2002, where he partnered primarily with the supply chain organization. During this period, he was the global IT leader for the acquisition and integration of the Pfizer Consumer Healthcare business, as well as Vice President IT, J&J Consumer Companies Global Supply Chain CIO.

Orlando holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University. He has been selected to participate in several senior leadership education and development programs, including those from the Harvard Business School and MIT. He has been actively involved in several industry forums focused to the development and adoption of industry standards, including ISBT-128: a global bar-coding and automation standard for transfusion medicine.

Chris Shanahan, Senior Vice President Global Procurement, Thermo Fisher Scientific

Chris Shanahan is Vice President Global Procurement of Thermo Fisher Scientific based in Waltham, MA since January 2018. Chris was brought into drive an agenda to leverage the scale of Thermo Fisher spend and transform how Thermo Fisher engages the supply base. Prior to joining Thermo Fisher, Chris served as Senior Vice President Global Procurement for Becton, Dickinson based in NJ and Ireland for 18 years. Before joining BD, Chris served in leadership positions in procurement, supply chain operations and materials management with Smith Kline Beecham, Sterling Drug and Essilor in Europe. Chris is Adjunct Professor at Farleigh Dickinson University as part of their Master in Science in Supply Chain Program. Chris is on the Hackett group advisory council. Chris is co-author of the Global Procurement Leaders Handbook.

Mark Newton, Head of Regulatory and Environmental Affairs, Samsung Electronics America

Mark Newton believes that the waste from one process should become the feedstock for another. It is this guiding principle that governs his approach to his role as the Head of Regulatory and Environmental Affairs and Sustainability at Samsung Electronics America, where he develops and leads market-based solutions to address complex environment issues, sustainability challenges, and compliance assurance.

Mark plays a crucial role on matters of product stewardship, eco-design, and operationa sustainabiltiy for one of the world’s largest manufacturers of electronics in one of its most important markets. Mark’s specialty is cross-functional stakeholder engagement and strategy development with a focus on risk management and product and business process innovation.

Throughout his professional career, Mark has held corporate responsibility and sustainability leadership roles at some of the world’s most respected corporations including Apple, Dell, and Motorola, achieving top rankings for sustainabilty and environment performance.

Prior to joining Samsung, Mark served as Vice President, Sustainability of VF Corporation, where he directed environmental stewardship, operational sustainability, ethical sourcing and community engagement for iconic outdoor brands including Timberland, The North Face, and Vans. As a key member of the VF acquisition integration team, Mark drove the adoption of Timberland’s sustainable supplier, green design, and community impact programs across all VF brands.

Mark holds a Doctorate and Master of Science in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Chemistry from Keene State College. Mark has served with the National Academy of Sciences to recommend congressional strategies for effective climate policy, as a business advisor to the World Resources Institute, Chemsec and Clean Production Action and currently sits on the advisory boards of the Smallholder Farmers Alliance, the E-Stewards standard and the Electronic Recycling Representative Organization.

Mark is an amateur brewer, enjoys ultralight backpacking with his family, and loves playing Ultimate Frisbee and disc golf. His Ultimate team, Sick Hammers, based in Austin, TX, has qualified for the national competition seven times in the past eight years.

Mr. Slota’s professional experience, prior to joining Deloitte Consulting, LLP, has included employment with the following world-class organizations:

Mr. Slota was Vice President, Supply Chain for Philips Electronics NV. Core team Executive Leader for the global turnaround of the post near bankruptcy successful avoidance activities. His responsibilities covered many market segments, including Consumer, OEM, OLM, Automotive, Industrial Commercial, and others. Mr. Slota oversaw the operation of multiple regional distribution/mfg. centers including all end-to-end SCM activities. Before that, he was the Director of Consumer Division Operations and Development, leading the strategic restructuring of the consumer business unit, attaining first-time profitability in the Americas.

Mr. Slota was Vice President of Finance, Operations and Trade Relations for a major Division of Reckitt & Coleman, PLC, responsible for all functions of the Division. He also served as finance/operations voting member (1 of 4) in the acquisition of a new legal entity, and was responsible for converting to a new enterprise system of end-to-end processes. In his previous role as Corporate Strategic Planning Manager – Household/Foods, Pharmaceutical and Shoe Care, Mr. Slota developed and installed the America’s Strategic Planning System.

Donna Del Rosso, MBA, Senior Vice President at National Retail Systems, Inc.

Ms. Del Rosso is supply chain management executive who is comfortable in multi-billion dollar global companies or entrepreneurial/start-up environments. Matt Watson, Director Supply Chain, Quality and Regulatory, BASF Corporation, Care Chemicals Division

Matt Watson is responsible for the efficient and effective execution of supply chain operations for the BASF Care Chemicals Division, which provides products to the personal care, home care, cleaning and agricultural industries in North America. His team also manages internal quality management systems and processes as well as regulatory support for our products. Matt has been working in the chemical industry for over 25 years in many different areas of operations management.

Matt started his career as a project engineer supporting environmental systems control at Ciba Geigy Corporation, a Swiss Pharma company. After completing several investment projects, Matt was delegated to Switzerland on a three year assignment as a process engineer at several European manufacturing units. Upon returning to the US, he was assigned to a unit operations manager role at a chemical manufacturing site in Delaware. Experiences here gave Matt the opportunity to develop skills in supply chain management. He was given a role as Director of Supply Chain for the Americas, Coating Effects Division. This position was responsible for all supply chain operations for both North and South America.

In 2009, Ciba was acquired by BASF and Matt was relocated to New Jersey, where the BASF Corporate HQ is located.

He has a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering and is APICS certified.

Viju Menon, Senior Vice President, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Verizon

Viju Menon is the Chief Supply Chain Officer, at Verizon, a Fortune 15 company and leading provider of wireless, fiber-optic and global Internet networks and services. Viju is responsible for Verizon’s end-to-end Supply Chain across all business units. His scope includes Global Sourcing and Procurement, Supply Planning, Contract Manufacturing, Product Distribution and Customer Fulfillment across all Sales Channels, Product Life Cycle Management, Supplier Quality, Inventory and Working Capital, Distribution Center Network, Freight, Reverse Loop Operation & Monetization, and Corporate Sustainability. Viju joined Verizon in 2010 to take on the newly created role of VP, Supply Chain, at Verizon Wireless, and radically transformed the wireless devices supply chain, delivering significant shareholder value.

Viju brought nearly twenty years of Intel semiconductor manufacturing and supply chain experience to the telecommunications Industry. At Intel, he served as head of worldwide supply planning operations for all products, microprocessors and chipsets, across a complex global network of Wafer Fabs and assembly/test factories. Prior to that, Viju served as Platform Chair of the Chipsets factory network and as factory manager where he led the startup and best-in-class ramp of a new Assembly/Test chipsets factory. Viju has managed engineering & manufacturing organizations at Intel Wafer Fabs.

Viju has published several journal articles and conference papers on factory operations, line yield improvement, constraint management, and flexible manufacturing. He is a keynote speaker at various Global manufacturing and supply chain conferences.

Viju is a Fellow of MIT’s Leaders for Global Operations program, with graduate degrees from the MIT Sloan School of Management and School of Engineering (Electrical). He also holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Kerala, India and University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
