In July, the Division I Northeast Conference (NEC) and the Division III Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) both decided — in light of the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic — to postpone and suspend all intercollegiate competition for the fall 2020 semester.

In a letter to the Devils community, Division III Director of Athletics Jenn Noon wrote to her student-athletes, “You have displayed resiliency, and I am confident this bump in the road will only propel you to be better than ever. I want to assure you that I, along with our staff, will stand beside you as your second family, as we navigate through these uncertain times.”

Division I Director of Athletics Brad Hurlbut thanked the Knights community for their support and patience. “We applaud our amazing student-athletes for adapting and finishing so strong in the classroom, for reaching out when they needed assistance, and for working hard over the summer to maintain their physical fitness and hone their athletic skills,” he said.

Knights and Devils student-athletes will still have opportunities this fall to enhance their athletics experience, in adherence with conference protocols and NCAA rules, along with campus, local and state health-and-safety guidelines.

The NEC Council of Presidents will reconvene October 1 to reevaluate the situation. MAC presidents, athletics directors and the MAC COVID-19 Advisory Group plan to evaluate and assess the athletics landscape throughout the 2020–21 academic year.
